FRANCISCO MARIN PARTICIPATED IN A SECTORIAL LUNCH WITH THE CIRCLE OF ENTREPRENEURS OF GALICIA “PRESENT AND FUTURE OF THE MIÑO-SIL HYDROGRAPHIC CONFEDERATION; THE HYDROLOGICAL PLAN 2015-2021 AND ITS PROGRAM OF MEASURES”

The colloquium on the present and future of the Miño-Sil Hydrographic Confederation: The Hydrological Plan 2015-2021 and its Program of Measures” was held during the sectoral lunch, with more than 25 members of the Galician Business Circle, in the Financial Club of Vigo.

The intervention of the president of the Miño-Sil Hydrographic Commission began by identifying what a “river basin is and the general functions of basin organizations, how it has been prepared and what it is used for in the Miño-Sil District Hydrological Plan”, approved by the Council of Ministers on January 8.

He described the Hydrological Plan (PH) as a “very precise X-ray of the basin” and indicated that, once the problems of the District had been identified, the PH incorporates a Program of Measures, for the period 2016/2021, for an amount of 426 M/€ that will allow progress to be made towards achieving 3 clear objectives:

– To improve the good state of the water bodies.

– To improve the adequate protection of the Public Hydraulic Domain.

– Satisfy the demands.

“These 426 M€ are integrated in some 500 measures included in the PH itself, with funding from the different territorial Administrations (State, Autonomous Community, Regional Governments and Town Councils) which, according to the information received and that obtained in the meetings of the working groups of the Committee of Competent Authorities, will help us to achieve the good status of the bodies of water in 2021, as established by the Water Framework Directive“, Francisco Marín has clarified.

He also briefly explained the collaboration of the CHMS with the different Administrations in the presentation of strategic European projects that will dynamize, project and enhance the natural potential of the river basin and others that will contribute to a better knowledge and governance of it in the presence of extreme events,as they are:

  • POCTEP- RAIA TERMAL (3,4 M€) with the aim of promoting thermal synergies on both sides of the “raia”, improving the fluvial environments associated with the thermal activity.
  • POCTEP- MIGRAMIÑO (2,5 M€) to favour the reproduction of species typical of the Miño basin -Sabalo, Lamprea, Anguilla-.
  • POCTEP- RISC MIÑO-LIMIA (2,7 M€) to predict, on the basis of simulations, the areas affected by river flooding according to the expected rainfall and to update the Special Plan in the event of extreme drought.
  • LIFE- REGENERA LIMIA (2 M€) set of demonstrative techniques to reduce the presence of nutrients in the water bodies of the region of A Limia (Ourense)

The members of the Circle showed interest in the information provided by the President and, above all, in the business possibilities that could arise from the work carried out by the basin organization for the improvement, management and governance of the same.
