BORDER TOURISM, A NEW CONCEPT AT EUROPEAN LEVEL THAT PROMOTES THE ATLANTIC EIXO WITH A FORUM IN BRAGA, IN MAY.

Next May 30 Braga will host the First European Border Tourism Forum that will address this new concept that arises in the framework of two actions financed with European cooperation funds: The Border Destination Project, financed by the Interreg Spain-Portugal Programme (POCTEP) and the EPICAH Project, financed by Interreg Europe and led by Eixo Atlántico.

In the case of Destino Frontera, the whole of the Spanish-Portuguese border participates through the partners of the Iberian Network of Cross-Border Entities, RIET, which promotes the identification of sources for economic development and the repopulation of the border based on sustainable tourism centred on natural, cultural and monumental heritage.

In both cases, the new concept of Border Tourism is an evolution of that of Two Countries, a Destination that was born in the Euroregion Galicia – North of Portugal, driven by the Eixo Atlántico a few years ago and that is extending to other European borders.
