HORIZONTAL PRINCIPLES

The project RAIA TERMAL from its design phase to its current implementation, ensures that the project’s actions ensure compliance at all times with the horizontal principles and Community policies on equal opportunities and non-discrimination, equality between women and men and sustainable development, as set out in Regulation (EU) No 1303/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 December 2013; In particular, Article 7 provides that “Member States and the Commission shall take appropriate measures to avoid any discrimination based on sex, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation in the preparation and implementation of programmes”.

The measures taken in each of the horizontal principles set out in the application form of the approved project are set out below

Sustainable development

RAIA TERMAL contributes in a decisive way to the sustainable development in the area of influence of the project through which actions will be carried out to recover the natural spaces around the thermal areas, in which the polluting sources will be eliminated and the contiguous river environments will be conditioned. On the other hand, the tourist promotion of Raia Termal promotes the economic dynamization of the area bordering on the influence of thermalism.

This combination, which includes actions to protect and improve the environment and exploit endogenous and natural resources as a source of wealth, is a guarantee of sustainable development.

Equality between women and men

Although there are no specific actions to promote equality between men and women, it is important to mention that the project must ensure equal opportunities and non-discrimination on the grounds of disability, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc., in each of the recruitment procedures.

This principle will prevail both with regard to the recruitment of personnel within each of the partner entities, and in the specifications corresponding to the contracting of services or external experts, as well as in future contracts made by the Cross-Border Association of Thermal Villages born within the “Raia Termal” project.

Equal opportunities and non-discrimination

As in the context of equal opportunities, the project will also ensure equality between men and women and thus non-discrimination on grounds of sex. Therefore, as specified in the previous section, the procedures for hiring personnel that could be carried out by the partners of the project as well as those of external services and experts within the project and within the Cross-border Association of Thermal Villages born within the project “Raia Termal”, will respect at all times the equality between men and women guaranteeing total impartiality in this matter.
